Ilyssa Goldsmith earned her Bachelor of Science degree, Summa Cum Laude, in communication from Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University. Additionally, she received a creative writing certificate and the Moeur award for an eight-semester 4.0 GPA. During her undergraduate study, she served as a writing tutor. In that time, Ilyssa offered constructive feedback on works-in-progress for undergraduate and graduate students. Ilyssa considers professional communication one of her specialties.
During her junior year, Ilyssa became Senior Poetry Editor of Canyon Voices, an online literary magazine. There, she oversaw an editorial team, while reading and reviewing incoming poetry submissions. The following year Ilyssa became Senior Fiction Editor of Canyon Voices.
Ilyssa enjoys writing and editing poetry, fiction, scripts, and creative nonfiction. Her creative writing has been featured in Normal Noise, Claudius Speaks, The Maynard, and elsewhere. She has earned first place in ASU’s National Poetry Month contest. Ilyssa has also won an Honorable Mention certificate from the International Writers of the Future contest.
