Description:
Caroline studied anthropology at Davidson College, where she worked to connect creative writing and ethnography, which recently culminated in an ethnography on post-colonial trauma in northern Madagascar. This interdisciplinary perspective directs her editing as well as her own non-fiction poetry and prose which deal with memory, place attachment, and the contemporary southern experience. Most recently, her poetry received the 2015 and 2016 Vereen Bell Award, and her creative non-fiction received the 2014 R. Windley Hall Award and the 2016 and 2017 Charles E. Lloyd Award.
She has served as an editor for Libertas, a monthly creative magazine, and Poetry and Art Editor for Hobart Park, an annual literary review. In addition, she has edited literary translations, undergraduate research in the social sciences, and several creative collections. As an editor, she enjoys grappling with experimental writing, discovering writers’ unique voices, and finding the intimacy in each story. Caroline discovered Z Publishing House after being invited to submit to an upcoming book and was intrigued by their commitment to new writers and the circulation of new ideas.
